We tend to take so many things for granted.
To watch someone and see all of their senses taken away from them one by one, tends to make you appreciate your senses that much more.
I watched her as she lost her sense of movement-now confined to a bed.
I watched her as she lost her sense of speech-no longer able to articulate any words to express herself or her feelings.
I watched her as she lost her sense of taste-no longer able to swallow or chew to nourish her frail body.
I watched her as she stared off into space with a stare that told us she was looking at no one, or nothing-no longer able to recognize anyone in front of her face.
I watched her as she lost her sense of touch her body too frail to move-no longer being able to squeeze our hands when asked a question.
I watched her as she inhaled and exhaled her very last breath on this earth
What's funny is that I wrote this poem earlier this evening and I wrote this poem earlier this evening.... You overstand? Just like that, no more suffering, no more pain.
